The property is a restored old stone built residence, originally constructed in the early 1900s. It has been configured as two small one bedroom maisonettes. There is also a small kafenion. Vans pass through the village square daily selling their wares including bread, fish, and locally-grown fruit and vegetables. There is even a selling live chickens! The village boasts three small cheese producers which are famous in the area for their feta, yoghurt and Graviera cheese. There is bus service to the main Chania Monday to Friday. The next village from Tzitzifes is Fres, 1 KM away, where there is a fantastic bakery and three kafenions and shops selling local produce. The main town of Vrysses (with a river running through the centre of the village) is just a five minute drive and has a bus station, banks, supermarkets, bars and excellent tavernas. There are also doctors, dentists and veterinarians in the village. The area is perfect for walkers of all abilities with wonderful views of the White Mountains and the sea. The beach towns of Kalives and Georgioupoli are easily accessible within 15 minutes.
The home is ideally situated for access and exploring the rest of Crete as the National Road is only five-minute drive. From there Chania and its airport is a 40 minute drive, Rethymnon is a 30 minute drive with Heraklion being just over one and a half hours away.
