This pleasant 48 sqm two bedroom ground floor apartment is situated on a small development within easy walking distance to the Drapanos village plateia. The current owners have used the home as their permanent residence for the past 8 years. The apartment is one of four on a shared plot with a 40 sqm shared pool and sun terraces.
Entry to the apartment is via the main entry door on the front of the building and thence to the open-plan sitting area and kitchen. [The owners usually use the front covered terrace entry door directly to the sitting room however!] The two bedrooms are to the rear of the home separated by the fully-tiled family shower room. Both bedrooms have French doors leading to the covered rear terrace that has been fitted with all-weather screens for year-round use. The owners have used one of the bedrooms as a study.
The pool is for use by the owners of the four apartments; the annual maintenance charges are about 200 Euro. The small garden areas are maintained communally but in practice, the apartment's side and rear garden are effectively private for the owners of the flat.
The complex was originally intended as a community of eight apartments and the concrete frame for the second four-apartment block was erected about 10 years ago before the development company filed for bankruptcy. It seems highly unlikely that this will ever be completed, and it does appear that the frame was constructed facing the wrong way (away from the pool) hence making any future development even less likely.
Drapanos is a small quiet village with a mini-market, two tavernas and two kafenions. It is just a short drive from two very private swimming and snorkeling coves at Ombrosgialos and Koutalis ... photos are included in the gallery. Kefalas and Vamos with all their fine amenities are also very close by.
A lovely holiday home and great value for money in a very peaceful and traditional corner of Crete!
